mnemonics; 2) This descriptor is associated with two or more different attributes for the same mnemonic; or 3) This
mnemonic is associated with two or more different descriptors.
PURPLE - For WMO Table B descriptors: This is awaiting validation by the WMO or has pre-operational status (last updated by
the WMO 11/28/2008). For local Table B descriptors: This will become active soon.
RED - Either: 1) This local Table B descriptor is being phased out because it is now defined as either a WMO Table B descriptor or a
different local Table B descriptor (this does not apply to local descriptors defined as Code or Flag tables, these will always
be retained); or 2) This local Table B descriptor is being phased out because it was never actually used (it had only been
proposed).
GREEN - This local Table B descriptor is being phased out because it is not, or will soon not be, found in any NCEP BUFR tables.
This does not apply to local descriptors defined as Code or Flag tables, these will always be retained (unless the
descriptor was never used).
BLUE - This WMO Table B descriptor currently has, or previously had, an incorrect attribute in NCEP BUFR tables.
GRAY - This local Table B descriptor is reserved for TDL which does not use the mnemonic-based NCEP BUFR library interface.
