Precipitation URMA
UnRestricted Mesoscale Analysis
Last update: 16 Oct 2018
6-hourly multi-sensor precipitation estimates received from the 12 ConUS River
Forecast Centers are mosaicked into a national product (the
NCEP Stage IV)
and remapped to the ConUS and Northwest NDFD grids.
Operational implementation: 28 Jan 2014. Availale on the NWS SBN (see WMO
header info below).

14 Apr 2015: upgrade
- Mosaics re-made 1/3/5/7 days later
- Sources of 6-hourly mosaic QPE for Stage IV/URMA: currently the 6-hourly
Stage IV is a mosaic of the 6-hourly QPEs from the 12 ConUS RFCs.
For this release, we first produce 6-hourly totals from the eight
Eastern/Central RFCs’ hourly QPEs, then combine these 6-hourly totals
with the four Western RFCs’ (NWRFC, CNRFC, CBRFC, MBRFC) 6-hourly QPEs
to arrive a 6-hourly ConUS QPE.
