The speaker will present his theory on the mechanisms that determine the latitudinal location of the ITCZ. His ITCZ theory can be easily extended to give a conceptual explanation for the double ITCZ bias in GCM simulations. Implications of his ITCZ theory for monsoons and monsoon onset will also be discussed
