Presentation will cover GOOS objectives, background, how it is being implemented at present and describe, in some detail, several observational components (drifters, XBTs, moorings, floats, sea level). Information on the GOOS Regional Alliances (GRAs), the soon to be initiated Coastal GOOS Program (COOP) and GOOS Pilot Projects (GODAE for example) will also be presented.
