The current operational model in Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) was adapted from the JMA global model, and has been operational since 1996. As of 2002, KMA embarked a national project for the development of a new KMA global forecast system. The starting point of the new model system is routed in the NCEP GFS as of 2000, but with major differences in dynamics and physics. The dynamical core uses a double Fourier Spectral, and some of the physics parameterization schemes was also newly developed. Results from the WRF model as well as in the global model will be discussed, together with the future plans.
