Zhiyong Meng

Prof. Zhiyong Meng is a distinguished professor at the Department of Atmospheric Sciences, School of Physics, Peking University, Beijing, China. She has been the associated dean of School of Physics since 2019 and the director of China Meteorological Administration Tornado Key Laboratory since 2022. Her research interests include dynamics, data assimilation and predictability of mesoscale convective systems and tornadoes. Prof. Meng got her B.S. from Peking University in 1991, M.S. from Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences in 1994, and Ph.D. from Texas A&M University in 2007. She was awarded fellow of the American Meteorological Society in 2020, editor's award for Monthly Weather Review in 2014, the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in 2015, and the National Award of Chinese Young Women in Science Fellowship in 2014. She is now an Editor of Monthly Weather Review, Quarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, Advances in Atmospheric Sciences, and Science China (Earth Science). She has been serving as a member of World Weather Research Project (WWRP) Working Group on Predictability, Dynamics and Ensemble Forecasting (PDEF) since 2014. Up to now, Prof. Meng organized or co-organized 18 conferences, workshops or summer schools, and published 83 peer-reviewed papers with a citation of 2103 per web of Science with an H index of 25, and 4328 per Google Scholar with an H index of 36.
