Abstract:
The Interagency Council for the Advancement of Meteorological Sciences (ICAMS) / Interagency Meteorological Coordination Office (IMCO) is congressionally mandated with providing the relevant Federal coordination for the implementation of policies and practices with the goal of "ensuring US global leadership in the meteorological (N.B. Earth System) services and supporting research and annual implementation plans". What is ICAMS/IMCO? How does it relate to NOAA? What is in it for your organization and for the nation is the focus of this conversation. How to advance further the overarching mandate of ICAMS is the fundamental challenge. This will only happen by forming and leveraging strong partnerships in the federal weather and water enterprise. I will report on the status of the ICAMS Decadal Strategic Plan as well, which is under development.
