Sensitive area calculations from Met Office, ECMWF, Meteo-France.

Summary: The ECMWF calculation using dry total energy singular vectors
shows a sensitive region extending from eastern Canada towards the
Azores. The Meteo-France calculation indicated a similar area but not
extending as far east. The Met Office calculation showed a sensitive
region with two centres - one over eastern Canada and one centred on
45N, 45W.

Selected target: general area 75-35 W, 40 - 55N

Request for obs:

24-hr confirmation of G-IV flight from St. John's to approx. 42N 35W and
returning via 57N 45W (exact points to be determined by the air crew)

24-hr confirmation for 18z reports from all 8 Canadian radiosonde
stations.

24-hour confirmation for GOES rapid scan winds centred 45N40W

(AMDAR already on for  45-65N,10-60W)

Summary: The ECMWF and Meteo-France SV calculations showed a sensitive
region extending from the southern tip of Greenland to south-west
Europe. The Met Office and NCEP ETKF calculations showed a sensitive
region with two centres - one over eastern Canada and one to the
south-west of the UK.

Selected target: general area 55-5 W, 30 - 60N

Request for obs:

48-hr warning for 18z reports from Madeira, Azores, Lisbon, Gibraltor,
La Coruna.

48-hour warning for GOES rapid scan winds centred 45N30W
