The site displays verification statistics for global NWP model forecasts. Verifications are computed on 2.5x2.5-deg grids. A 30-year (1959-1988) climatology of the NCEP/NCAR reanalysis is used for computing anomaly correlations.
Model Acronyms: GFS: The U.S. NCEP Global Forecast Systems; ECM: European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts; CMC: The Canadian Meteorological Center; FNO: The U.S. Navy Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanograpy Center; UKM: The United Kingdom Met Office; JMA: Japan Meteorological Agency; CFSR: Legacy GFS used for Climate Forecast System Reanalysis CDAS: Legacy GFS used for the NCEP/NCAR Reanalysis. NCMRWF: NCEP T574 Eulerian GFS run by the Indian National Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasting center GFSX: Experimental T1534 Semi-Lagrangian GFS, same as the operational GFS except that it is run within the NEMS infrastructure and an updated convection scheme is used.
The regions referred to are: G2 (GLB): Globe NHX: 20N-80N SHX: 20S-80S TRO: 20S-20N PNA: 20N-75N; 180E-320E
